Grandsons Liam, Ross and I met up with Paul for a day out in London before the winter school term began. The weather was beautiful and we all had a great time, with visits to the Tower of London and the Natural History Museum. Liam wrote a poem to commemorate the day, which he very bravely read out at Paul's funeral, with Ross standing beside him. Liam's Poem: On a fine summer day, Ross, Grandma and me, Went on a train from Clacton on Sea. Liverpool Street was our final call And there we met up with Uncle Paul. He seemed so tall, my Uncle Paul And all in all, looked pretty cool. The Tower of London was our first call, So along we went with Uncle Paul. I told Uncle Paul all about the past. He thought my knowledge was quite vast. I said "Didn't you learn all this at school?" "I don't remember" said Uncle Paul. Natural History Museum was next, I recall. A great day out with Uncle Paul. We waved goodbye at the underground But due to a strike, no trains could be found And so at the end of a lovely day We got on a bus, going the wrong way. The bus driver put us on the right track And to Liverpool Street we made our way back. An exciting adventure for Ross and me, Before finally arriving at Clacton on Sea. A brilliant time was had by all On my day out in London with Uncle Paul. By Liam Donovan
