Paul would have smiled this morning to have heard the conversation between my friend Jean and I when we visited his spot with fresh flowers. Jean always enjoys arranging the posy for the centre of Paul's memorial stone while I fill the vases with flowers. However, as she was about to put the posy into place, I exclaimed, "Oh no Jean, Paul can't have that". Poor Jean wondered what was wrong with the pretty yellow and green posy until she realised that the flowers she had chosen are the colours of Norwich City FC, absolute taboo for an Ipswich Town FC fan!!! The green flowers were quickly removed and replaced with pretty pink ones, much to Jean's amusement as she remarked, "Paul, your mum is mad!". There has been no rain to speak of for several weeks and we spent time watering Paul's parched grass, with Jean making runs to the tap on her buggy, carrying several bottles of water at a time. She is off to visit her daughter June and family in Halifax for two weeks tomorrow and I will certainly miss her help with Paul's flowers while she is away.
