Paul's birthday

It has been a bittersweet day for me today. Whilst at times I have felt so sad and tearful, I have also had some lovely messages from Paul's friends and my friends, who were all thinking of Paul today, which has been very comforting and heartwarming. I took flowers and a card to Paul this morning and met one of his friends who had travelled from London to bring Paul flowers for his birthday. Family friends Jean Hayes and Jean Dale had also left flowers. I spent a quiet few moments with Paul and as my tears flowed, I could almost hear him saying "Don't cry Mum". Grandson Kieron and I went up again this afternoon when he came out of school. I had hoped that Paul's stone would be in place for his birthday but the harsh winter has delayed the stonemason's schedule. I have planted two roses in my garden in Paul's memory, named "Remember Me" and "Child Of My Heart", which will be beautiful when they bloom in May. I have also given Karin, Tracey and Nicola a "Remember Me" rose each so that we can all share the pleasure of Paul's rose. Nicola has written a lovely poem in memory of Paul which can be read on the "Thoughts" link, along with other birthday thoughts of Paul. I have made a donation to Epilepsy Action through Paul's tribute to commemorate his birthday. Paul's friend Clair rang me this morning to tell me that she was thinking of us all and I was so pleased to hear that she and Tshequa have at last been allocated a house with a garden. They are moving in at the end of the month and Paul would be so very happy to know that they now have a home away from London. Sincere thanks to everyone for helping to make this day easier for me. I still miss Paul so very much and I guess I always will.
